The Dawood group required a solution for its major operations all across Pakistan, taking a start from Lahore. They wanted a surveillance system at their Dawood Chemicals ammonia plant outside Lahore. Being operated remotely, there were thefts taking place at the site and staff was not handling responsibilities well. A similar production lag was felt at the Dawood Lawrencepur factory situated in Lahore. The head office in Lahore had to be secured as well and all sites had to be monitored centrally. The head office in Karachi had to be secured as well.
The ammonia factory and Lawrencepur garments factory are connected to the Lahore head office via a 1MB radio link. The Karachi head office is connected to Lahore through a 512KB dedicated Internet link.

Solutions

A variety of Axis cameras were installed at the Dawood Chemicals factory. From Axis 206's inside the building, 211's outdoor at the various entry exit points to the 232D's on the towers for a view of the entire factories operations at day or night. Milestone XProtect Professional is installed on the server residing at the plant, which is then remotely monitored from the head offices at Lahore and Karachi as and when required using the remote client. The server at the plant makes use of motion recording and thus with a terabyte of storage, saves over a months recording for all cameras at a suitable frame rate. Apart from that, the axis cameras are also wired with the alarm system.

The performance and efficiency of the management and staff have drastically improved after the installation of the security system. Since the live cameras can be viewed and their respective recordings be seen from both Lahore and Karachi, senior management can keep track of important events and issues that take place at the plant. Clients are given a tour of the plant without actually requiring a visit.
